Our United Watershed
Our sixth annual Rio Chama Watershed Partnership Congreso is being held virtually through four 2-hour long sessions, across a period of two weeks, beginning on February 27, 2021. This year's theme is focused on "Uniting our Watershed" and the Partnership has invited local landowners, state and federal agency representatives, business owners, students, and educators young and old, to share with us their experiences in our shared landscape.
The Congreso concept is that collaborative decision-making can combine local knowledge with scientific management to sustain indigenous cultures, provide educational and economic opportunity for young residents and protect our resources.
Congreso 2021’s panels will discuss a range of issues from landowner and government agency / conservation organization collaborative efforts towards improved landscape and watershed resiliency, to the connection between rivers and water supplies both above and underground, to discussions between students, educators, and those who have utilized newer technologies and those who have practiced citizen science in their families for generations. There will also be some bonus video presentations at the noon hour for sessions 1, 2, and 3, and a work-shopping opportunity for identifying landscape project needs across the watershed following session 4. We encourage you to grab a lunch and join us for these bonus presentations!
